Light does not try to overcome darkness. It simply shines — and darkness loses by default. Darkness never defeats light. Darkness only exists where light hasn’t entered. Darkness is powerless in the presence of light.
On Day 3 of “Behold Him,” we fix our gaze on one of the most beautiful, liberating, and hope-filled revelations of Jesus:
He is the Light of the World.
Not a light.
Not one of many lights.
Not a symbolic light.
Not a temporary light.
THE Light.
The light that existed before the sun.
The light that shone before Genesis.
The light that darkness cannot extinguish.
The light that reveals truth, heals hearts, and guides weary souls home.
When Jesus declared in John 8:12,
“I am the light of the world,”
He wasn’t describing Himself poetically — He was announcing Himself prophetically.
This was Heaven revealing Christ’s identity:
He is the only One capable of breaking spiritual darkness.
You don’t overcome darkness by fighting it; you overcome darkness by letting Jesus shine in places where shadows have lived too long.
This December, as lights fill neighborhoods and Christmas trees glow in windows, scripture reminds us that Jesus is the light behind every light. He is the true brilliance the world has been longing for since the fall.
Isaiah 9:2 declares:
“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light.”
This was not just a poetic promise — it was a prophecy about Christ.
A Messiah stepping into a world suffocating under sin, shame, confusion, spiritual blindness, and hopelessness.
When Jesus arrived in Bethlehem, light stepped into the world in human form.
Light cried.
Light grew.
Light walked dusty roads.
Light healed the sick.
Light delivered the oppressed.
Light confronted darkness.
Light revealed the Father’s heart.
Light loved the unlovable.
Light forgave the unforgivable.
He did not just shine — He transformed.
Light reveals what darkness hides.
Light exposes lies.
Light uncovers sin, deception, and spiritual bondage.
Light exposes motives, clarifies purpose, and aligns destiny.
This is why darkness hates light — not because it can defeat it, but because it cannot survive it.
Where Jesus shines, chains break.
Where Jesus shines, fear melts.
Where Jesus shines, confusion clears.
Where Jesus shines, depression lifts.
Where Jesus shines, identity becomes grounded.
Where Jesus shines, shame cannot stay.
Where Jesus shines, hope rises.
Light doesn’t ask for permission — it simply shines and brings freedom with it.
To behold Jesus as the Light of the World is to see Him as the One who steps into every dark place — both in the world and within us — and restores what shadows tried to destroy.
Darkness in Scripture is not just the absence of illumination — it is the absence of truth, hope, purpose, and connection with God.
It’s the state of being lost, wounded, overwhelmed, or spiritually blind.
But when Jesus enters any situation, darkness loses jurisdiction.
Perhaps you are walking through a personal darkness today — the darkness of a heavy season, an unanswered prayer, a painful memory, a difficult decision, or a hidden battle.
And maybe you feel like the light around you has dimmed.
But hear this clearly:
Darkness is not a measure of God’s absence — it’s the environment where His light shines brightest.
Light is most visible in shadows.
Light is most radiant in night seasons.
Light is most comforting when fear surrounds.
Light is most needed when hope feels low.
You are not failing because you feel darkness — you are in position to behold Jesus as the Light who rescues.
When He shines, He doesn’t shame you — He saves you.
He doesn’t expose to embarrass — He exposes to heal.
He doesn’t reveal to judge — He reveals to restore.
He doesn’t bring light to condemn — He brings light to redeem.
To behold Him as the Light of the World is to see Him as the One who:
• guides your steps when you don’t know where to go
• comforts your heart when the world feels heavy
• breaks cycles that have been in your family for generations
• reveals truth that sets your soul free
• brings clarity where confusion has lived
• reconnects you to purpose after loss or disappointment
• leads you out of the shadows of your past
Light is not passive — it is active.
It moves.
It spreads.
It heals.
It changes atmosphere.
It brings life.
Without light, nothing grows.
Without Jesus, the soul cannot flourish.
As we continue through December, with Christmas lights twinkling all around us, let every small light remind you of the greater One — the Light who stepped into a dark world not to decorate it, but to deliver it.
Behold Him — the Light that darkness cannot comprehend.
Behold Him — the Light that still shines today.
Behold Him — the Light that leads your steps.
Behold Him — the Light that fills your home with peace.
Behold Him — the Light that surrounds you in prayer.
Behold Him — the Light that frees you from fear.
Behold Him — the Light that guides your purpose.
Behold Him — the Light that restores your joy.
Let Him shine into every part of your heart today — and watch darkness lose its hold.
🙏 PRAYER
“Lord, shine Your light into every part of my life. Reveal what needs healing, restore what has been damaged, and lead me into truth. Let Your presence break every shadow, silence fear, and fill me with Your peace. I behold You today as my Light. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
